Restoration means removing, replacing, or repairing the parts of a vehicle, while preservation means keeping the original components. Though automotive restoration is commonly defined as the reconditioning of a vehicle "from original condition in an effort to return it to like-new or better condition. A full auto restoration entails completely disassembling the vehicle and restoring each and every part and system. Restoring a classic car requires an intimate understanding of the mechanical aspects of the vehicle, an eye for cosmetic details, and an appreciation for the history of the car.
